Everyday Electrical Jobs

Most domestic electrical work falls into a handful of routine categories that we tackle every week:

Part P Notifiable Work

Some electrical work in the home is notifiable under the Building Regulations — particularly anything in a bathroom or kitchen, work involving a new circuit, or work on the consumer unit (fuse box). For these jobs we work with a registered electrical contractor who issues the appropriate certificates and registers the work with Building Control on your behalf.

We will always tell you up front whether a job needs Part P certification, what that adds to the cost, and what paperwork you receive at the end. There are no surprises.

Lighting

Replacing dated centre-pendant lights with modern LED downlights, panels or feature fittings is one of the most cost-effective ways to update a room. We can advise on warm versus cool tones, dimmable versus non-dimmable, beam angles, and how many fittings a room actually needs (which is usually fewer than people assume).

Outside lighting is equally popular — uplighters in flowerbeds, downlights under pergolas, motion-sensor floods on the side of the house. All work is in proper outdoor-rated fittings with the right cabling and isolation.

Sockets and USB Outlets

If you have ever found yourself with a tangle of extension leads behind the TV or in the kitchen, the answer is usually more sockets in better places. We can add additional sockets to an existing ring main where it is compliant to do so, fit double sockets in place of single ones, add USB outlets next to bedside positions, and tidy up untidy installations from previous owners.

Where a kitchen or other room has had multiple sockets added by various hands over the years, we can also test the existing arrangement and put it back into a tidy, compliant state.
